Welcome, dear reader,

These past weeks have filled me with a rich and abundant experience. It took me back to an insight I gained during a constellation with horses a few years ago. When the constellation was almost finished, all the little birds hidden in the surrounding trees began to whistle and chatter in a way I could not ignore. Their concert was natural, simple and at the same time uplifting. The facilitator said to me: ‘Listen to what is happening. Before long, people who already know your work from earlier days will come back to take part again. They will share the quality of your work with others.’ It was not the first time this lady told me something that later came true word for word. This is no exception.

Last week I took part in a workshop on systemic work for entrepreneurs in which we could look at our own business from various angles. In one particular exercise we set up three groups of clients. One group who had never heard of our work and had no intention of taking part. A second group who did know about our work but had no intention of taking part. The last group were the convinced clients who knew the work well and are happy to take part. We were given the task of looking systemically at those three groups from within a particular movement. When my turn came, I took one step in the direction of the three groups. I could not complete the movement, however, because something happened that brought me to a standstill in utter wonder. As I looked at the three groups, my heart centre opened in an intense and overwhelming movement. It overflowed with love for the participants and for the non-participants too. All I felt was love, on a deep inner level. All I could do was be in that experience and allow it completely. I know that this is how I look at people, but to experience it so abundantly in this context surprised me for a moment. The three groups noticed that stream of love themselves as well. This is what it is about for me. In everything you do, a deep undercurrent of a love beyond words can be present. The art is to allow it in and to live and work from there. This unconditional love, this essential connection, is the core of everything I undertake. And of life.

Let me look back for a moment at the richness of these past weeks. All at once people got in touch whom I had not heard from for years. They had questions they wanted to talk through, or wished to take part in a training again. A little jump for joy on my part. From the heart, a connection always goes on existing, no matter how long it has been since you last saw each other. On top of that, a proposal for collaboration between the Netherlands and Flanders blew into my field completely out of the blue. We had talked about it once before in the past. None of it is definite. Nor does it have to be. It is the dynamic in the undercurrent, becoming visible in the surface current, that intrigues me and fills me with trust.

At the beginning of July, two stents were fitted in my coronary arteries. They made a world of difference. Before that, my life had literally and figuratively shrunk until it had reached a crucial, life-threatening depth. Years of not being heard about my symptoms had gone before it. Years of tests, adjustments, calling in help and at the same time carrying on looking at life. Thanks to the stents not only did my arteries open up again, but I can breathe more deeply again. At the same time life is opening up her abundant stream of possibilities. An ever-repeating cycle of opportunities for growth and for rising higher. By daring to dive into the depth and the darkness of your own life, you come across your challenges. The pain from your past of sorrow, rejection, anger, shame and the whole range of emotions. That is the outer layer, and because of it you may withdraw or ignore certain situations. In an unconscious way you protect yourself from showing your capacities to the world in full. Underneath it, however, lies a precious treasure chest filled with your talents, your gifts, your experiences and all the knowledge you have gained, waiting to be discovered and shared. Inside you sits a ‘drive’ that keeps propelling you on to grow in conscious BEING. It draws its nutrients from the challenges you meet every day. Your growth serves not only yourself, but everyone you meet, and even beyond that. Are you ready to share your talents and your love with others?
